Misty May at Down Tor – Beltane 2016 P2

Misty May at Down Tor – Beltane 2016 P2

Dawn broke on Burrator Reservoir. Very few people noticed this fact, for three reasons: it’s a ridiculous hour of the day to be awake; there were only a handful of visitors to the area; there was such a dense mist that you couldn’t see the reservoir unless you were actually in it. No-one was in it. A number of wild ponies prepared to play hide and seek with each other. The air warmed to a jot above freezing, and the day relaxed a bit now that the cadavers of the victims of the Beltane Death Cult had no doubt been discovered and recovered. We had done the hard work the day before, by driving for a number of hours (incalculable due to boredom) and now we were in the vicinity of two interesting stone circles that I am going to use the adjective...

Flickering Venus and Forgiveness

Flickering Venus and Forgiveness

Why wouldn’t you want to go out on a wet and windy night to climb up a steep hill in the dark to visit a stone circle on an exposed ridge? Such rhetoric did play momentarily in my mind, but I ignored its facetiousness, and went anyway. The Corvus Correspondence As I arrived at the base of the slopes of Moel Pearce just northeast of the village of Llandrillo on North Wales. It had been a while since I had been here and I was aware that this stone circles I was about to visit was one of the four sacred sites which correspond, in my mind, with the positions of the four main stars of the Corvus constellation. The crow. The sign of Kal. Moel Ty Uchaf stone circle is one of the finest in the area. It is relatively intact, has a good complement of stones, and has...

Imbolc 2016 P1 Bursting the Bag of Light

Imbolc 2016 P1 Bursting the Bag of Light

I had the feeling that Kal was with me since the morning of the 2nd February. He was impelling, encouraging and inviting me to re-start my spiritual cycle of following the year’s special energetic high points. My tarot draw done recently showed the figure Dagonet as the over-arching influence of this year. This is the travelling jester turned knight. That was Kal all over! Seems like I was due to have some fun this year. My tarot reading for the start of the year had suggested a well as a starting point, and of course as it was Imbolc then a site related to Brigid would be the obvious choice. I decided to introduce her to some of the more accessible wonders of the Cheshire/Staffordshire borderlands – Gawton’s Well and Stone, and The Bridestones....

Winter Solstice 2015 P3 – Spirit of the Lakes

Winter Solstice 2015 P3 – Spirit of the Lakes

In the final part of my Winter Solstice story I will be revealing a conversation that I had with a spirit of the land, and I feel that it may be a little controversial. It will certainly push some buttons for some. Believe me that my only intention is to reveal the communication. The content is not an opinion – it is a message. Please read this post in that context. My friend JK and I reunited within Castlerigg stone circle, having done our own work in isolation. Now we intended to work together on some land healing. Given the recent floods in the area this seemed like an appropriate topic for our intentions. To heal the land and offer it energy for healing. So much water had fallen already. Could we prevent more human misery by intervening? I connected...

Winter Solstice 2015 P2 – Storms and Crows

Winter Solstice 2015 P2 – Storms and Crows

The night was turbulent. A storm raged harshly all night keeping is awake for most of it as it. The motorhome was rocked violently, but held steadfast as it took the brunt of the westerly wind which slammed against it. As the Winter Solstice arrived at 4:40am I was awoken by a particularly strong strike from the gale outside. I texted my friend who intended to arrive that morning to warn him that the journey may be fraught. Little did I know that for many residents they were already flooded out for a third time in a month as a result of the storm’s fury. I was excited at the idea of finding a new quest to do, at potentially delivering my prepared ritual to anyone who appeared for the morning, and finally for attempting to do some healing on this flooded...

Winter Solstice 2015 P1 – Flooded with Moonlight

Winter Solstice 2015 P1 – Flooded with Moonlight

I had a vision. Months ago I saw myself standing in Castlerigg stone circle at the Winter Solstice. I was striding into the centre of the circle, staff in hand, dressed in full druid robes and I had a beard – the kind of beard you can hide snacks in. I was then leading a ritual for the gathered throng – a ritual to give thanks for the year and to usher in the new one. That was the vision. I had grown the beard over the next few months while I began to make this vision a reality. I decorated my staff, and bought some olive green robes from Morocco. Finally, with days to go I crafted a ritual for everyone who was present to follow. Some friends from my meditation group were planning to come along too. It was shaping up nicely. The best laid schemes...
