Beltane 2017 – Seeking Elen

Beltane 2017 – Seeking Elen

It’s well past the Summer Solstice and I’m only just posting about Beltane. Boy, have I got some catching up to do! Let’s begin. A long time ago I drew my first ley line along a map of North Wales. One of its key points in Snowdonia was the peak of Yr Elen. Something had been drawing me to the place ever since that moment, but I had never had the strength of will to meet the challenge. Now, I needed to prove to myself that I had such determination in the face of all that was contrary such as common sense, time, distance, effort, capability, weather. Also, I was on the quest of “Fresh start – New Ground”. The Carneddau range of peaks had been a long-time goal and I wanted to be prepared to meet the challenge if I was to make...

The Uneasy Chair – P2 – Autumn Equinox 2016

The Uneasy Chair – P2 – Autumn Equinox 2016

Autumn Equinox. A time I had promised myself a solitary journey to sit in Idris’ Chair – Cadair Idris – the lovely mountain whose shape reminds me of a sleeping dragon, curled up with his head pointing to the western shores of Wales. Having been to Dinas Emrys already, now came the time to climb. The day before I had been off work ill. I very rarely get ill, but it was a sneezing cold which I didn’t want to spread, and so I spent the day recovering. Now, in real terms, this was the way I felt I could recover properly – by filling my lungs to the very depths with fresh Welsh mountain air. I had everything ready – a bag with layers of clothing; candles and torches; incense and dowsing rods; snacks and water; a sleeping mat, a...

The Sun and Moon in balance – P1 – Autumn Equinox 2016

The Sun and Moon in balance – P1 – Autumn Equinox 2016

For Autumn Equinox this year I decided to make use of all of the available light. I would start early in the morning, and I would head to Dinas Emrys. It had been a while since I had been there, and it had been mentioned by a few people in the weeks prior to the Equinox. It seemed like it was calling me, perhaps? From Dinas Emrys I would then proceed down to Cadair Idris – the legendary mountain associated with the bard Taliesin. I had been reading “Awen: The Quest of the Celtic Mysteries” by Mike Harris, and this had inspired me to go seek out the connection at an appropriate time. This was that time. My aim was to sleep alone on the top of Cadair all night, and then to walk down in the morning. The legend associated with the mountain is that...

Ash and the Lightning Path

Ash and the Lightning Path

Conscious Camp. I’d heard of it from my friends who attend my weekly meditation. They had raved about it all year, and at first I wasn’t interested, but when they enthused about the number of activities and how they fitted completely with my druidic lifestyle, then I succumbed. I went to the Autumn Conscious Camp in the village of Glyn Dyfrdwy near Llangollen on the A5. They were right. It took my less than an hour to get the vibe of the place, and it was a wonderful vibe. Such beautiful lovely people all there to improve and come together to improve their mental and spiritual states. Ahh… this is what it’s all about. Anyway – I couldn’t just loaf about – this was a perfect environment in which to continue my work, my...

The Wye Connection

The Wye Connection

I cannot now tell you what prompted me to choose this destination. I think I was looking for a dolmen that I had not been to before, and which was within 2 hours drive of home. I think I narrowed the search down to the county of Powys in Wales, but as this is a huge county that wasn’t much of a narrowing! What resulted was this nice-looking dolmen structure about two hours away. That was as much thinking as went into the decision. I set myself a destination of the nearest town – Rhayader. I noticed, with interest, that the general area was close to the River Wye. That is a river that holds a particular fascination for me, and I have no idea why. I love the Wye Valley, Monmouthshire, that Powys region – the whole thing about it. I was about to...

Merlin and the Spirit of Albion

Merlin and the Spirit of Albion

It’s not often that I bring the information from my meditation group into this space. In fact, this may only be the second time. However, when we are working with the larger energies and several people get exactly the same information, then I think that is more than just personal information – it’s information for all to learn from. The energy I asked the group to consider was The Spirit of Albion – the spirit of these lands. Most of the participants found this easy to imagine. I asked them to rise above the islands and consider the land as a whole, and then invited the spirit of the land to come to meet them. Next I asked that the Spirit of Albion show them a place in the land that was special to them, and then for them to be connected to...
