Magician Quest

Magician Quest

It began with an urge…to connect with my ancestors. Which was to begin in the home of my folks, Pakistan. Or so I thought. In fact I had even put it on my list of places to visit. Then a visit to Dinas Emrys and a commune with the spirit of Merlin changed all that. Merlin had told me that I wasn’t of Albion (obviously) but also that I wasn’t of Pakistan or the historical region it was in. This was a bit of shock, but not more than a huge spiral turning when he said that I was related to, if not the descendant of a magician from the middle-east. Starting points on spirals is a terrible gambit. As soon as you think that this is where it all began you are shown another step in the past which is also where it could have started. Was it with Dragons...

Dinas Emrys part 2 Bees, Crows, Fay and the Wand Ingredients

Dinas Emrys part 2 Bees, Crows, Fay and the Wand Ingredients

Our climb up to Dinas Emrys had been an unexpected surprise and not a good one. That tale of test is told here. However as we reached the base of the hill that is Dinas Emrys, I heard and then saw a bee buzz by. If you read this post from last year. In fact last (2014) summer solstice, Chris and I were in Ireland. One of the sites we visited was Drombeg. A beautiful place and one that is home to a Fay portal. It was there that I was given the friendship and ability to connect with the Fay. The process, however, required three crows, three bees and the four elements.  As the bee faded into the distance I was reminded of the experience in Ireland. I shouted across to Chris, “two more bees”. He knew what I meant and we carried on our climb up Dinas...

Moel Ty Uchaf and an ingredient for the wand

Moel Ty Uchaf and an ingredient for the wand

Llandrillo or Moel Ty Uchaf stone circle is one of the best (energetically speaking) ones that we have visited. However our visits to it are sparse because of the humongous climb to get to it. It’s a challenge to even put it on the agenda. However it had called to me a few days ago and although I’m not in peak physical condition I relented and suggested it to Chris. He of course agreed immediately since it would be an ideal place for a quest that he is on. Memories of the three stage climb returned to me as I got out of the car. Here we go again I thought. It had been at least three years since I had made the journey up this mountain and I had been a lot fitter then. Still, needs must, so I took up my pack and off we went. One of the things that has...

Elif Shafak, an ingredient and sufism

Elif Shafak, an ingredient and sufism

Okay, I have been on some strange quests to be sure and the journey that each quest has taken me on has been more challenging than the previous. You kind of wonder where all this is leading, but as my previous post talked about, sometimes you are stuck with the Uncertainty Principle. One of the things that I often wonder is the genesis about certain things going on currently in my life. When did it begin? It’s a difficult and often fruitless one. But what it does do is grow (and remind you of) the appreciation of magic in your life and that can’t be a bad thing. So, is it Sufism? Or is it the introduction of new Turkish friends into my life? Or is it something more exotic than that. I don’t use the word “Universe” much anymore. After...

Visions of a magician at the Wizards Wood

Visions of a magician at the Wizards Wood

The night and early morning had been spent in the land of the mystics. Opening the gates of the heart using Zikr and Sema. The result was a good day of sleep, but this then meant an evening of wakefulness. When I awoke from my slumber around 4 in the afternoon I had a yearning for more adventure or specifically for the quiet of a wood. Immediately the Wizards Wood came to mind and I was off without hesitation. An hour later I was walking amongst the dear trees of that magical forest. After walking about for a while and letting the spirit in me greet the spirit in the forest. I brought out the rods and pondered the question of whether there was any reason to my visit. The rods gave an immediate YES. and I followed there direction. Now as you may know, there is a...

Presumed missing…

Presumed missing…

Oh dear, it happens doesn’t it. Life of the mundane kind gets in the way and when it does we have to pay the sacred paths pied piper. Fortunately (or not) for us, we have this blog to point out our missed opportunities. As you know, in my life one thing has been begging for a while…that Wand Quest… It has been on my agenda for a few years and yet, perhaps because of its enormity, it has been left…well…begging. Recently I had the opportunity to gather some more intel on this quest and here is how the tally stands. According to some worthy Fay I have 12 ingredients to collect and also a Gift from the author Elif Shafak – however both of these are dubious because the Fay I was communing with at the time were not reliable –...
