Shamanic Lands 4 – Working with Elementals

This is the second of the posts about the presentation given by the very knowledgeable Dr.Patrick MacManaway at the Shamanic Lands event at the Conway Hall in London. In this second post I will recount the information that he gave relating to working with dragons and specifically with the various elementals. Elementals are the spirits of the earth, fire, water and air which play a large part in mediating and harmonising the subtle energies which operate in an area. Working with Elementals Patrick talked about bringing your brain into the right state of mind in order to communicate with the Elementals. He showed us diagrams of the brain states: Alpha waves for relaxation, and Theta waves for the meditative state. As plants work in the Alpha and Theta range, so we...

Imbolc 2016 P2 The Flame of Brigid

Imbolc 2016 P2 The Flame of Brigid

We were at Gawton’s Well. I say “we”, as I was with shamanic friend Julia. I was sitting beneath one of the guardian yew trees which congregate around the well head like static souls. Perched parrot-like I was rocking myself gently into a trance, intoning various snippets of near-silent whispers of wisdom. I was imparting my Imbolc feelings to the feral gathering of sprites and undines which I could sense gathering to observe my ritualistic movements. I felt a connection emerging from the cluster of subtle threads that I will call my assemblage point (even though I am aware this deviates in usage from how Casteneda would have used it). They melted and flowed over the well water, seeking connection, sympathetic vibration, attention, information;...

Autumn Equinox 2015 P1 – Heavy Water and Deep Thoughts

Autumn Equinox 2015 P1 – Heavy Water and Deep Thoughts

So the Autumn Equinox arrived. It would be my first outing without Kal being around. I had to steel myself to make the preparations to go, but I did so knowing that I could spend a day out in Nature and take some time to go to a place that he loved. I knew where I was intending to go. The place had been suggested to me by my water spirit guide. Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall had all the elements I needed to fulfill The Song of the Waters – a fall, a river and a pool – water in three conditions. Never Ride The Lonely Road… For some reason I wanted you to hear the first few seconds of this “Lo-Fidelity Allstars” track which has a rather creepy snippet of cautionary advice. I’d recommend the album by the way – it’s one of...

Instructions for the Knights tour – Lammas 7

Instructions for the Knights tour – Lammas 7

Given that the BBC weather forecast had predicted, rain, rain and more rain. Our visit had been completely dry from the moment we stepped out of the car. Today was the second and final day of our visit to Kilmartin in Scotland. In fact it was going to be a third of a day since we were due to set off around 1 pm. Our first stop today was a castle that stands a few miles outside of Kilmartin village, namely Carnasserie Castle. Again the access to this castle was exemplary. We parked the car (in a car park) and walked a good ways up a sloped path to the front of the castle. The views from it were amazing. I asked the rods whether there was anything to learn or do here and they answered in the affirmative. It was after all a castle and I was (after all) a knight. The...

Summer 2015 – P6 – Three Winds

Summer 2015 – P6 – Three Winds

After spending a delightful lunchtime in the company of our Irish hosts Regina and David, we set off again heading for a site which we had visited before – Knockbrach – a hill which we knew had a ‘fort’ on top. David, however, wanted to show us some other structures on the hill that we might not have known about. How exciting! What were these structures? Regina drove us to the foot of the hill and we tumbled out into the summer sunshine, yet clothed against the cool wind. Drawn to one side As we walked up, chatting and enjoying the spray of summer flowers creating fan patterns as they flowed in chorus with the breeze, there was an increasing sense of increasing our senses. Everything was being heightened as we climbed. Their...
